SERVICE GROUP'S DANCE

COMBINED EX-GIRLS Simply but tastefully decorated with tall baskets of flowering currant and spring flowers, the Crawford Lounge presented a gay scene last Tuesday evening, when the Combined Ex-girls’ Service Group held their first dance. The crowded hall was thronged with happy dancers, who, as tho evening went by, made merriment of the passing hours. As an interlude they were entertained with choruses by five members of tho R.N.Z.A.F. The lucky spot danco was won by Miss Wilson and Mr Gibson and the Monte Carlo by Miss M‘Lellan and Mr Ballantyne. During the third last dance red, white, and blue paper snowballs were distributed, which caused a lot of fun. Supper was served buffet fashion. As a result of this dance a sum of money will be handed over for war purposes.

The president (Mrs C. R. Martin), who wore a gown of oiel blue shot taffeta with an overskirt of embroidered not in the same shade, and Mr Martin received the guests. Mrs Martin carried a bouquet of spring flowers presented to her by the committee. The young members of the executive, who alone were responsible for this gay function, wore Miss Patricia Duncan (the enthusiastic and ever-helpful young secretary) and Mrs J. Crawley, Misses Audrey" Meek (registrar). Audrey Adams, Phyllis Duke, Alice Gregg, and Messrs Fred. Duncan and Allan Hutton.

' Members of the executive present wore Mrs Spencer Secular (vice-presi-dent), who wore blue lace and a shoulder spray of pink and blue velvet flowers; Mrs J. Mooney, in tinsel threaded Parma satin ; Miss Audrey Aleck, turquoise velvet with silver and rose velvet bows: Aliss Patricia Duncan, shrimp pink silk taffeta and black lace coatee; Aliss Alice Gregg, midnight blue taffeta ami diamante; Aliss Phyllis Duke, black frock and bolero, spray of gold flowers; Miss Audrey Adams, grape-coloured shot taffeta and corsage spray of cherry blossom.

Among those present were Air and Airs J. Spencer Scoular, Air and Airs J. Mooney, Air and Airs Cecil B. Lewis, Air and Mrs J. G. Macfarlano (Christchurch), and Mr and Mrs Neilson.
