MINE DISPUTE
SETTLEMENT REACHED WORK TO RESUME ON MONDAY [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, September 14. As the result of the intervention of Mr C. L. Hunter, liaison officer, of the Department of Labour, the dispute at the MacDonald mine and the Glen Afton collieries has been settled, and work will be resumed on Monday. A special meeting of union members was held in the Lyceum Theatre at Huntly this morning, lasting for about two hours. Mr Hunter received a good hearing, and the men’s decision was practically unanimous. It was decided that the matters in dispute be referred as early as possible to the National Disputes Committee.
