A Highlander was telling his officer how he and another Scot were completely surrounded by the enemy. “ It was a hard fight and we were both wounded, but we got away,” he said.
Tho officer assured him that, in the circumstances, there would hare been no dishonour if they had surrendered. “ Surrender,” yelled the Scot. “ D’ye think we’d be likely tae dae that'wi’ two weeks’ money in oor pockets!” —M. Bonson, Bradford.
