The Clipper beat Battleship by 2 points.

—Semi-final.— White Lie beat Tukia by 3 points. The Clipper beat Lucky Gold by 1 point. —FinalWhite Lie beat The Clipper by 1 point. In winning this stake, White Lie again proved that she is one of the best bitches racing in New Zealand to-day, and that when she is in form she can beat the very best of opposition. At this meeting she was in the pink of condition. The Clipper, who was runner-up, will rank as one of the best and most consistent greyhounds ever to race in New Zealand. Tukia, who has been seen in better form, raced very consistently. This is one of the _ most promising youngsters seem in action this season. Lucky Gold is a good one, but belies the first part of his name, as he races well but without any luck whatever. Royal Artillery, Alfonso, Battleship, and Loch Lomond, have all shown better form. The first-mentioned two appeared very stale. MAIDEN STAKE. • —First Round.— Mr R. Wall’s (N.S.) Boston Prince (Boston Boy—Episode) won by default from Mr H. Kinnimont’s Black Royal (Royal Soult—Scotch Nation). Mr L. Fulton’s Flying Nell (Noontide—Hamilton’s Pride) beat Mrs E. Watson’s Chancellor’s Pride (Chancellor —Dolaine) by 3 points. . Wall’s King Guard (Royal Sovereign—Lass o’ Gowrie) by 1 point. Mrs H. Fannin’s The Snake (Boston Boy—Runaway Girl) won by default

from Mr H. Kinnimont’s Desiree (Tarago, Aus.—Desire, imp.). —Second Round.— Boston Prince beat Flying Nell by li points. Rexminda beat Miss Beverley by 1 point. Lady Luna boat Erin’s Flight by 5i points. The Snake ran a bye. . —Semi-final.— Boston Prince beat Rexminda by 1 point. Lady Luna beat The Snake by 1) points. —Final.— Lady Luna beat Boston Prince by 2 points. The winner raced in perfect condition and won all her courses very well. Next season she should win in the best of company. Boston Prince raced well in all courses, aud was unlucky in meeting Lady Luna at the top of her form in tho final. Both The Snake and Rexminda have shown much better form. Tine former, it will be noticed, raced first an accidental bye and thou a natural bye to reach the semi-final, in which he was defeated by Lady Luna. Rexminda, like The Snake, is bred in the purple, and next season, all going well, he should be well to the fore.

Erin’s Flight was racing very short in the second round.

Flying Nell was expected to do better after her good performance in the first round.

Miss Beverley shows much promise for a youngster.

Nightcaps Club Doings. The Nightcaps Coursing Club continues to hold successful meetings. Mr W. Lloyd, the club’s secretary, is proving a great asset to the sport in the district. Following are the results of a maiden stake, won by Mr J. Creegau’s Top How, with Mr W. Dickson’s Gold Tinge as runner-up. —First Round.— Mr J. T. Duggan’s Beau Chien (Latest Craze—Miss Dorado) beat Mr R. Manson’s Black Surprise (Braemar •Prince—Ruby C.) by 3 points. Mr W. Dickson’s War Craze (Latest Craze—Vonolel) beat Mr R. Manson’s Mr C. (Braemar Prince—Ruby C.) by 4 points. Mr G. Cody’s Queen’s Choice (Latest Ci'azo—Miss Dorado) beat Mr A. Prendeville’s College Boy (Achieved Again—Erin’s Pride) by 3 points. Mr J. Crcegan’s Top Row (Latest Craze—Miss Dorado) beat Mr J. Currie’s Jack the Ripper (Achieved Again —Dixie) by 4J points'. Mr M Moss's Kerbstone (Korbino — Black Velvet) beat Mr J. Prendeville s Overproof (Braemar Prince—Ruby C.) by 5 points. Mr W. Dickson’s Gold Tinge (Golden Worry—Vonolel) beat Mr T. Tikeys Tipster (Latest Craze—Miss Dorado), the decision being given on superior speed shown. —Second Round.— Beau Chien beat War Craze, this decision also being given on superior speed shown. Top Row heat Queen’s Choice by half a point after a great course. Gold Tinge beat Kerbstone by 2 points. —Semi-final.— Top Row beat Beau Chien by 2£ points after a long and clover course, in which both dogs worked the game with speed and determination. Gold Tinge ran a natural bye. —Final.— Top Row beat Gold Tinge by 1 point, after a good course in which both dogs showed speed, cleverness, and determination on a strong and wild-breaking hare.

At this meeting, as at all other meetings held by this club during the 1940 season, the hares in all cases proved far superior to the dogs, and led them a merry dance. Once more the progeny of Mr J,. M'Cash’s sire, Latest Craze, proved superior, four of the five of his offspring winning in the first round. They met in the second round, and the two winners then met in the first course of the semi-final, leaving Top Row to contest and win the final.

The two Latest Craze offspring to reach the semi-final were from that good and most promising stud matron, Miss Dorado (Lupin—Dorado).
