UNIVERSITY A v. THE REST. Played on Oval Mo. i under ideal conditions, this mutch provided a very exhilarating exhibition of the game, and further proved that scientific team work will eventually win the day. The final score was 3 goals to 2 in favour of University A, and was a fair indication of the relative merits of the two teams. From the initial bully the Rest set up a hot attack, but the Varsity defence was equal to the occasion. Varsity were having difficulty in settling down, and territorially the Rest were definitely holding the advantage. Eventually from scrambling play Rennick netted with a smart shot. The Rest kept on the attack, and for the greater part of the spell kept Varsity on the defensive, but the half-time score remained: The Rest 1, University A 0. Upon resumption Varsity immediately took tlie initiative, and displayed good team work, which kept the Rest on the defensive for practically the whole spell. From one assault Mathiesou centred neatly to Alldred, who equalised. Shortly afterwards from a melee in front of the Rest circle Baird placed to Ryeburn, whose shot put Varsity in the lead. The Rest made one of their few assaults during the second spell oik the Varsity goal, and Webb scored an opportunist’s goal to equalise. Varsity were soon again on attack, and kept up the pressuie until Ryeburn netted his second goal, to put -Varsity again in the lead. During the final stages the Rest tried desperately to score, but the final score remained: University A 3 The Rest 2 Mr E. Brown and Mr H. Sew- Hoy were the umpires. WOMEN'S GAMES

OTAGO DEFEATS SOUTH OTAGO. The Otago representatives met South Otago on Oval No.l, and the B grade eleven met a South Otago second eleven. The C grade team travelled to Seacliff as the guests of that club and won a well-merited victory by 6 goals to 1. OTAGO v. SOUTH OTAGO. Thev lined out as follows:—Otago: 11. Paterson, 11. Quaid, M. Nicholson, A. Mackie, M. Fisher, B. Campbell, G. Stewart, It. Cumberbcach, J. Wallis, H. Harley, E. Stinson. South Otago: D. Smith, L. Goss, P. Prescott, B. Ferguson, M. Carruthers, C. Lam!reth, E. Jenkinson, V. Marshall, M. Koeft, J. Morris, L. Holden. They set off at a fast pace, Otago penetrating, only to be repulsed. A good break by Miss Morris saw the home side in trouble, but M. Nicholson relieved, and M. Fisher set the home forwards on attack. H. Harley made ground, but was well tackled. Up-and-down play saw matters even, though Otago had the territorial advantage. Bad offside play was spoiling the local forwards’ movements, and many likely chances went begging. A good effort by A. Mackie gave J. Wallis a chance, the ball eventually being netted by 11. Curaberbeach, who gave the goalie little chance. Otago 1, South Otago nil. Otago kept up the pressure, but L, Goss and P. Prescott were quite safe at full-back, and M. Carruthers was a tower of strength in the half line. V. Marshall got through to be held by M. Nicholson, and H. Harley again got awav. Good defensive play by B. Ferguson held up the Otago attack, and J. Morris made a break. M. Fisher pushed the ball to 11. Cumberbeach, who crossed to H. Harley, to E. Stinson, who netted without difficulty. Otago 2, South Otago 0. On the recommencement Otago attacked, but South, now playing a better game, kept the local backs on the run, and B. • Campbell stood out on defence. She was playing brilliantly. L. Holden could not get far, and M. Koeft met her match in M. Fisher. Up-and-down play saw a good South movement bear fruit. C. Landreth made the opening for South to carry play to the Otago circle, where V. Marshall, with a high shot, gave R. Paterson no chance to save. Otago 2, South Otago 1. Play continued fast and the standard was good. A South player left the field with a knee injury, and Otago attacked again. P. Prescott, who was playing a safe game, held up the attack repeatedly, and again off-side play spoiled Otago attacks. G. Stewart carried play to the South citadel, but J. Wallis just missed with, a hot one. It was a good even game, and in the second spell there was little between the teams. Final: — Otago .... ... 2 South Otago ... 1 Messrs T. H. Mulholland and T. N. Finder efficiently controlled the game. OTAGO v. SOUTH (JUNIOR). Otago B grade representatives met the second South eleven, and it was good even going all the time. Otago held the advantage early, but their forward work lacked combination. Otago led 2-1 at half-time, and the second spell was very evenly contested. It was a close call for Otago in the later stages, both sides scoring a goal each. Final:— 1 Otago ... 3 South Otago 2 Messsr S. Todd and J. Leith were the umpires. PRIMARY SCHOOLS TOURNEY. The seven-a-side primary schools tourney was held on the Oval this moru-

ing. and tho play was bright and fast throughout. -Six school teams participated. Concord was successful, and Macandrcw Road were the nmuers-up.
