After the collapse of France a group of London Stock Exchange enthusiasts worked out a novel scorecard in_ the “ Greatest Test of All.” Here it is:— GERMANY V. THE REST. A. U. Stria run out ... 0 C. Slovakia c and b Hitler 0 P. 0. Land c Stalin b Hitler 10 I). Enmark run out 0 N. Orway c Quisling b Hitler ... 1 H. Olland retired hurt ... 2 1L Elgiuiu st Leopold h Hitler ... 3 Luxe M. Bourg, b Hitler ... ... 0 F. R. Ancc, c Mussolini b Hitler ... 20 G. B. Ritain not out 20 A. Merica to bat : Close of play, 56 for eight wickets. The individual scores ” are intended to indicate the number of days each country survived the Nazi “ blitzkrieg.” As the above list was compiled on June 22, G. B. Ritain’s score should today read 71 not out, and this “ batsman ” is now well set for a marathon “ not out ” innings.— ‘ Cape Times,’ August 10.
