ITALIAN RAID ON TEL-AVIV INDISCRIMINATE BOMBING Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright CAIRO, September 10. An army communique states that 112 civilians, including five Arab children, were killed and 151 were injured when Italian planes raided Tel-Aviv and the adjoining area, bombing indiscriminately far from military objectives. A number of houses were destroyed. Fires were quickly controlled. Enemy planes raided Mersa Matruh, where slight damage was done, but no casualties resulted 1 . A British partol successfully encountered a party of banda at Elkatulo, the northern frontier of Kenya.

ROME'S REPORT ROME, September 1L (Received September 12, at noon.) A communique states that the Italian air force repeatedly attacked Solium, Sidi Barrani, Mersa Matruh, , and bombed and machine-gunned plants, army vehicles, and troops. Considerable damage was observed. Our bombers shot down two British fighters. Two Italian planes are missing. The enemy raided Bardia, Tobruk, Derna, and Kassala, and considerably damaged non-military objectives. Thirteen were killed and 21 wounded.

EGYPTIAN PAPERS DANNED CAIRO, September 11. (Received September 12, at 10.30 a.m.) The French authorities in Beirut banned the circulation of all Egyptian newspapers in Syria, and Lebanon. RECRUITING TRAINS DRIVE THROUGH N.S.W. SYDNEY, September H. Two specially-fitted recruiting trains will leave Sydney within a few days for a State-wide drive, which will last six months, for air force recruits. It is expected that 5,000 men will be dealt with by the staffs on board the trains, which will be able to accomplish all the work usually done by the metropolitan recruiting centres. The Melbourne City Council has given £25,000 to the Lord Mayor’s British Bombing Victims’ Fund. The Mayors of the other capital cities of Australia have opened similar funds.

CANADIAN MAN POWER REGISTRATIONS NEAR MILLION MARX OTTAWA, September 10. The Minister of Agriculture, Mr J. G. Gardiner, announced that 988,725 single men, aged 19 to 45, have registered for military service, of whom 77,983, in the 21-year class would start training in October. Two batches of 30.000 each would' be called up before Christmas. The figures did not' include 60.000 already .enlisted for active service.
