Eight years ago the Turin courts bad to decide what is a Martini cocktail. It was Argued on one side that a cock, tail could only be called by that name if made with Martini vermouth. Th» other side maintained that the cocktail was invented by a barman named Martinez, who named it not merely afteF himself, but after the patron saint of New Orleans, where he worked in 1889. Martinis, who said the first Martini cocktail was served in 1877, won thft case. "
