HOCKEY

OTAGO ASSOCIATION A meeting of the Management Committee of the Otago Hockey Association was held last evening, Mr A. Barnes presiding. Mr A. Barnes and Mr E. Rennick, managers respectively of the Christchurch and Gore trips, reported on the visits, and it was decided to forward letters of thanks to the Canterbury and the Eastern-Northern Associations for the hospitality shown to the Otago teams. The senior competition was declared closed, with the University A team winners. The club was congratulated on putting up such a meritorious performance. In order to endeavour to obtain finality in the junior grade, it was decided to play the round of matches on Saturday in which University C play Y.M.C.A. and Albany B have the bye. It was decided that the association cups and representative badges be presented at a dance on September 24. The following team was approved to represent The Rest v. University A at the Oval on Saturday;—W. Oarr (Albany), B. Bedford (Albany), K. Laiug (University B), L. Gurr (H. 5.0.8.), D. White (Training College), A. Betting (H. 5.0.8.), D. Stewart (Albany), I. Campbell (T.C.0.8.), J. ' Webb (H. 5.0.8.), E. Rennick (Albany, captain), J. Gardiner (Albany). Emergencies; A. Jack (T.C.0.8.), R. Bond (T.C.0.8.), A. Cuthbert (Albany). BOYS’ TOURNAMENT. A seven-a-side tournament will be held for the B grade at the Oval at 2.30.’ The following are the entries:— Macandrew Intermediate (4), Kensington (2), Forbury (3), Arthur Street (2), Normal (1), and Anderson’s Bay (21 The conditions are that as soon ns a team has two losses or one loss and two draws it automatically drops out of the tournament.
