ORANGES SOLD OUT OF WHOLESALE MARTS GOOD INQUIRY FR FRESH VEGETABLES Reilly’s report that business during the week has been satisfactory, with a good demand experienced for all lines. Dessert apples are in short supply, and values for first-grade fruit have advanced. Delicious, Tasinas, and any coloured lines are bringing good values. Sturmers are in better supply. Only small lines of cooking apples are arriving, and values for these have finned. Dessert pears ex cool store are also netting payable prices. Small consignments of North Island hothouse tomatoes have been coming forward to this market, and supplies from Christchurch should be available shortly. Very heavy supplies of cut flowers have been received during the week; supplies of local-grown narcissi, tulips, freesias, and anemones are increasing, and values are lower. Oranges are sold out of wholesalers’ hands, a further shipment of Valencias being expected shortly. A further shipment of New Zealand lemons is also due to arrive during the week. Lemons are arriving to a much more satisfactory demand. Small parcels of New Zealand grapefruit are coming forward!. Bananas have been in short supply, but a large shipment of Niues and Samoans is expected to arrive to-day. The fruit will have an excellent inquiry. Small lines of passion fruit are netting sound values. Fresh vegetables have a good inquiry. Increased supplies of spring cabbages and cauliflowers have been arriving. Good quality lettuce has a demand. Rhubarb is in heavier supply, and prices are lower. In other vegetables, carrots and parsnips are in rather over-supply for the present demand, and values are lower. Table potatoes are in ample supplv, and the market is easier. King Edwards, of which limited supplies are arriving, have an inquiry. There is an excellent demand for seed potatoes, and supplies of these are short. Onlv small consignments of whitebait are arriving, and values remain firm. Eggs.—Values remain firm, with a good inquiry. Poultry.—Fair supplies came to hand for Wednesday's sale, with satisfactory values for all classes.
