AUSTRALIANS REMAIN QUIET N.Z. PAPER MILLS ON OFFER AT £l/5/3 Selected sections were again accorded firm attention on the Dunedin investment market this morning, meat preservings, woollens, and some banks closing with a good inquiry. Commonwealth stocks were inactive, while business was fair. Metals showed practically no change, the only conspicuous movement being provided by Lyells, which came on offer at the lower price of £1 11s. Broken Hill Proprietaries, business in which was recorded at £3 12s/ closed quietly between £3 11s 9d-£3 13s. A.C.l.sjgained Is on buyers’ demands to £1 los, but few other transtasman stocks were quoted. Banks and insurances retained strength. Mosgiel Woollens improved on an inquiry at £9 ss. but there were no vendors forward. Dominion industrials were generally stable, but New Zealand Paper Mills attracted attention when holders lowered limits to £1 os 3d, with no inquiry forward.
