LANDED IN SHALLOW SWAMP
SYDNEY, September 28. '(Received September 29, at 10 a.m.) The Douglas airliner, which was forced down by bad weather yesterday while on its way to Brisbane, was carrying eight passengers and a crew of three. The machine cunio down in a shallow' swamp adjoining Coot's River. Had it landed in the river experts think 1 it would have turned over and all the occupants possibly trapped and drowned. On the other hand, the shallow water had a cushioning effect, sufficient to retard forward movement when it landed.
