AMENDMENTS TO PREVENT EVASION
[From Oue Parliamentary Reporter.] WELLINGTON, September 29. The most important provisions of the Land and Income Tax Amendment, to bo introduced in the House this afternoon, are designed to prevent _ the evasion of taxation which the Minister of Finance has stated publicly to be taking place. , The whole position of the land and income tax was the subject of invests gation by an expert committee, and while it is impossible to legislate regarding the whole of the recommendations, its major suggestions regarding the removal of anomalies m_ taxation and the prevention of evasion 1 have been included. , An alteration in the procedure in connection with insurance payments will operate to prevent evasion o. income tax, and some remissions are also understood to be included m this ■iZclause measure, but they cannot operate this year.
