(Received September 28, at 1 p.m.) Conditions were most unpleasant for the final gallops for the opening day of the spring meeting. The going was practically impossible at Raudwiek, whore Olympus was the only prominent candidate worked. He covered half a mile in 53sec.

At Rosebery, where the going was heavy, Beau Vite, with the Derby jockey, W. Cook, up, beat Royal Chief easily over a mile in Imin 50scc. Wilson ran a mile in Imin 49sec, easily boating Sydney over the last four furlongs in SGsec. ! Fcminist, who revelled in the going, covered seven furlongs in Imin 35sec and performed splendidly. Own Folk, second string to Feminist, did the mile in Imin 49sec, travelling very impressively. High Caste went freely over five furlongs in Imin s§sec. Adios,. with the Epson jockey, A. Roed, up, led Denis over five furlongs in Imin 4sec.

Respirator, looking very well, covered six furlongs in Imin 19^sec. Tidal Wave, a two-year-old by Tiderace from My Own, covered lour furlongs in 51sec. It was a good effort for a juvenile, and it is expected that Tidal Wave will perform creditably in tho Gimcrack Stakes.
