UNITED CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH
Anniversary services were celebrated at the United Congregational Church this week. The Sunday services were conducted by Pastor W. D. More and the Rev. C. G. Hedley Bycroft, and* the choir rendered special music, the soloists being Mrs T. W. Dove and Mr Murray Sinclair. The annual social, presided over by the Rev. Mr Bycroft, was well attended. The annual'report -presented by the secretary, Mr E. E. Wilkinson, disclosed a year of sustained effort by pastor and people. In the weekly meeting for prayer and Bible study interest had been well maintained. The Sunday school was in a healthy condition and the choir and Christian Endeavour were functioning satisfactorily. Finance was a problem, but two liberal thank-offer-ings by the' congregation during the year, together with a small legacy, had helped the position. _ An enjoyable musical programme, concluding with supper, was contributed to by Miss Dorothy Mackay. Mr Ivan Hanna. Mr George Stevens. Master Ken Walker (songs). Messrs W. A. Finnic and Grahame M'Kiulay (duets), Miss Joan Delaney, Master John Ritchie, and Master Trevor Hollebon (clarinet, violin, and piano trips), Master John Phillips (violin solos), and the choir, witli Miss Jean Calder soloist. The instrumental items were by members of the King Edward Technical College Orchestra, who acquitted themselves most creditably. _ The accompanists were Mrs A. Malmsley, Miss Phillips, and Mr Ron Abernethy,
