SPECIAL MILITARY FORCE FIRST DRAFT NEARLY READY Registrations for the special military force continue to be received at the Drill Hall, yesterday’s figure for Area 11 being 42. Another medical board sat last night and approximately 100 more men wore classified according to their physical and dental grades. All those who were medically examined last week have been notified of the date on which they are to proceed to camp, and the remainder will receive their notices as soon as the clerical side'of their registration has been completed by the staff at the office. Further registrations are as follows, classed in Group 1 (officers on the reserve or active list), Group la (retired or ex-officers). To the accompaniment of lively band music the first detachment of . 120 trainees marched through tiro city streets this morning and entrained for the military camp at Ngaruawahia. The spectators who lined the pavements were impressed by the fine physique of the men. Though their marching lacked polish, it had a lively swing, suggesting that the trainees will live up to the groat military traditions established by the generation who preceded them.
