THE YEAR’S ACTIVITIES The activities of the year are reviewed in the annual report of the Dunedin Amateur Swimming Club, to be presented at? the annual meeting tonight. The report states:— Once again the dub had the Otago flying squadron relay championship allotted to it, and the club team was once again the winner. During the season interest in water polo among the older members was not as keen as previously, with the result that our A team lost the Donald Stuart Shield again to our friendly rivals. Kiwi A. Although the younger members, comprising the B team, put up very stiff opposition they lost the B grade chain-' pionship. The club races for the J. J. Clark Cup and W. F. James Cup were contested during the season, and some good racing was witnessed. The senior championship for the J. J. Clark Cup was again won by E. B. Toase for the fifth year in succession.. The junior competition for the W. F. James Cup was again won by D. Leckie. This is the fourth year in succession that this promising young swimmer lias gained first place in this trophy. Thu Hoojier Cup for lady competitors was won bv Miss M. Mather. The E. H. Janies harbour race was held over a triangular course, starting from the harbour basin. ,Mrs Ingram, a staunch supporter of the chib, presented a cup for fastest time in this race. J. O. Byrnes gained fastest time, thus gaining the cnp. N. Williams, the winner of the harbour race, was presented with Mr J. Hogg’s miniature cup. The Batt Cup this vear drew only four starters, three finishing, third prize winner being the club’s president, Mr Brian Kerr. In the Otago provincial championships the following chib members were successful : —Miss J. Harris, second 200 metres ladies’ back stroke; B. Kerr, second 400 metres men’s back stroke, third 100 metres men’s back stroke; E. B. Toase, first 440yds men’s free style first 220yds men’s free style, first 100yds men’s free style; R. Knewstubb, second 100yds men’s breast stroke; K. Lcckie, second 100yds men’s back stroke; Miss Gwen Rix, first ladies’ diving; J. B. M'Gregor, first 440yds intermediate boys, first 220yds intermediate boys; second 100yds intermediate boys, first 100yds intermediate boys’ back stroke; D. Leckie, second 220yds intermediate boys’ back stroke, first 100yds intermediate boys’ free stvle; M. M'Gregor, second junior boys’ diving; R. B. Inpram, first intermediate boys’ diving; Miss C. Clark, second 75,vds intermediate girls’ breast stroke In the Otago relay championships the club gained first places as follows: 500yds flying squadron—E. B. Toase, K. Leckie. J. D. O’Driscoll, C. Ferguson. N Williams; 133 1-3 yards—N. Williams, K. Leckie, C. Ferguson, E. B. Troase; 200vds six-a-side relay—J. D. O’Driscoll, N. Williams, B. Kerr, K. Leckie, C. Ferguson, E. B. Toase.
