Royal Chief, showing an improvement, ran five furlongs in Imin ssec, standing up well, but the hard tracks are against him. Malagigi ran the best mile in Imin 421 see, beating Respirator. Gold Rod, Mildura, and Adios sprinted well, running three furlongs in 36isec, 37sec, and 38sec respectively. High Caste, who will not start in the Derby, galloped well over seven furlongs in Imm 30seo. Ho will be reserved for the short races. Mosaic, who is training on well, did Istadund nine furlongs in 2min Bsec. Feminist, the Metropolitan favourite, did' an easy mile in Imin 53sec, and looks in splendid condition. .Beau Vite, carrying a light boy, ran four furlongs in 52sec.
