The Mataki dredge return for the week-ended September 22 was 270 z for 129 hours| work from 11,600 yards. Nemona. The Nemona Gold Dredging Company Ltd. reports no return this week, as the dredge has been laid up for repairs. Biff River. The mine report.for the week ended September 21 of Big River Mines Ltd. states;—No. 5 level—North stope: Stope filjedi, stone 4ft 6in wide in centre, harrowing-,to the ends. Length 40ft. North drive: Advanced sft.' Total 69ft. No change. No. 6 level—Rise: Driven up 4ft. Total 10ft. Opening timber completed. Winze: Reef 4ft wide of a loose . boulder formation. Battery: Twenty-seven tons of stone sent to the bkttery. ' Okarito Dredging. A, recovery of 340 z 3dwt for 133 J hours is reported by the Okarito Five Mile Beach -Gold Dredging Company. Clutha River. The dredge of Clutha River Gold Dredging Limited, operating at Alexandra, worked 120 hours during the week ended September 22 and recovered 620 z. TALLOW EXPORT TRADE Shipments of tallow from New Zealand' last month,- according to the returns compiled by Dalgety and Co. Ltd. 'were 1,878 tons, of . which 1,299 tons was for Europe, 351 tons for India, 118 tons for the United States, and 110 tons for other countries. Exports of tallow for the two months ended August 28 were 3,781 tons, compared with: _5,410 tons for the corresponding period of, last year, a decrease of-1,629 tons.
