ST. ANDREW SOCIETY

The monthly social of the above society was held in Wilson Hall on Saturday, when there was a large attendance of members and friends. In the absence of the president (Mr A. Robb) the chair was occupied by Mr R. H. Dagger (immediate past president). In his opening remarks Mr Dagger extended a welcome to Mrs Kirk, who had arrived from Glasgow, Mr Webster, from Aberdeen, and Miss Ewing, secretary of the women’s choir, Scots Club, Wellington. During the evening items were given by Mr T. Law (’cello), Miss N. Law (violin), Miss M. Law (piano), Misses C. Law, R. Russell, and D. Barron (songs). The St. Andrew players presented a short play, ‘ Frigid Economy.’ Supper was served by the Ladies’ Committee. A vote of thanks to the performers was moved by Mr Brownlie. The rest of the evening was spent in dancing the old Scottish country dances.
