NAZI ATTACKS
REPULSED ON WESTERN FRONT LAUNCHED ON ADVANCED FRENCH POSITIONS PARIS, September 24. (Received September 25, at 10.30 a.m.) A communique states: Numerous local attacks on our advanced positions in the region of the Saar and north of Wisscmbourg were repulsed during the night. NO SPECTACULAR MOVES CONTRAST TO CLASH IN LAST WAR LONDON, September 24. (Received September 25, at noon.) Remembering the epic stories of mass fighting which occurred in the first few weeks of the last war, many people comment on the lack of reported movement and incident in the opening of the present campaign.
GERMAN PRESSURE INCREASING 300,000 MEN ON FRONT LONDON. September 24. (Received September 25, at 1.5 p.m.) Tho Paris correspondent of the Associated Press says the French admit that tho German attacks on the western front are increasing in strength and are important, although they do not believe that tho Nazi forces have yet been heavily augmented. Tho French penetration into Gorman territory has halted in order to consolidate tho gains. German divisions on this front are estimated to total 300,000 men, excluding motorised divisions.
