Beau Vite cleared up any doubts that might have remained concerning the Derby position. He gave his three op-
ponents a good start to the turn and beat them easily by two lengths and a-half, with a length and a-half between Reading and High Caste. Time, Imin 51sec. At the Hawkesbury meeting Beaurepaire was unplaced in the Hawkesbury Grand Handicap. The Rowley Mile, £l5O, resulted:— GOLD SALUTE ; (N.Z.), 8.12 (Ellis) 1 Berani, 8.0 (Duncan) 2 Leif, 7.7 (Poclmore) ... 3 Fourteen started. Won by half a length, with threequarters of a length between second and third. Time, Imin 392 sec. Three horses fell in the race, and a jockey, Lappin, received head injuries.
