QUICK ACTION IN RUMANIA BLOOD PRICE FOR MURDER OF PREMIER LONDON, September 22. (Received September 23, at 10-a.m.) The Bucharest correspondent of the Associated Press of Great Britain says 1,000 are reported to have been executed to-day as a virtual military dictatorship exacted a heavy blood price for the murder of M. Calinsecu. VIRTUAL MILITARY DICTATORSHIP MINE ASSASSINS SHDT ONE BY ONE LONDON, September 22. (Received September 23, at 10 a.m.) Rumania awoke virtually under a military dictatorship, and is still fearing serious repercussions as the result of the assassination of M. Calinescu. The country, however, is quiet and there is no immediate indication that the Government is unable to handle the situation. The German wireless professes heartfelt relief that the Government has stamped out the murderers and prevented spread of the trouble, which might have affected the country’s neutrality. It is revealed that the nine assassins were" blindfolded and shot one by one with the same pistols as were used against M. Calinescu, while crowds looked on. There were hundreds of arrests overnight, and many more are' expected. AMERICA’S SYMPATHY WASHINGTON, September 22. (Received September 23, at 10 a.m.) Mr Cordell Hull sent a message of condolence to the Rumanian Foreign Minister (M. Gafencu) and expressed his deepest sympathy in the death of M. Calinescu. GLEAN SWEEP OF IRON GUARD ■ ORDER NOW RESTORED BERLIN, September 22. , (Received September 23, at noon.) . The official news agency states that the Rumanian Government has made a clean sweep of the last members of the Iron Guard, executing them throughout Rumania as a reprisal for M. Calinescu’s assassination. Order is claimed to have becji restored. THOUSANDS IN CONCENTRATION GAMPS CONTINUATION OF EXECUTIONS LONDON, September 22. (Received September 23, at noon.) The Bucharest correspondent of the Associated Press recalls that thousands have been in concentration camps throughout the 3'ear as a result of M. Calinescu’s decree. It adds that mass executions are continuing among the^e. TOLL OF THE WAR POLISH-GERMAN CASUALTIES PARIS, September 22. (Received September 23, at 11 a.m.) The French Ministry of Information states in the three weeks’ warfare the' Polish and German casualties were 150,000 dead and wounded. Nine hundred aeroplanes were lost and 600 pilots killed.
