ORIGINAL PLAYS AT WOMEN'S CLUB

A large and enthusiastic audience attended the September meeting of the Play Reading Circle of the Otago Women’s Club on Tuesday evening, when three of the plays entered for the recent one-act play competition were staged. ‘ Peace, Perfect Peace,’ written by Mrs W. J. White, was the first play presented, those taking part being Mesdames A. H. Lawronson, W. L. Colvin, B. MThail, C. B. Stuart, Misses Betty Bell, Lilias Samson, and Betty Allen. The 1 second play, ‘ Slickering Shadows,’ was written by Mrs W,. J. Portions, the players' being Mesdames W. A. Saunders, J. W. Cowie,' W. L. Colvin, and Miss Colina Falconer ‘ The Awakening,’ by Miss A. M'Dougall, was the final play. Those taking part were Mesdames A. A. Fairbairn, V. Galway,W. M'Jnnes, Norman Ellis, Eric Anderson, W; J. Gilbert, and the Misses Lilias Samson and Dorothy Neal. ,M During the evening an entertaining sketch, entitled ‘ Shopping,’ was given by Mrs E. H. Murray. “Lady Ferguson, president of the club, thanked the per for me re and the playwriters for making the evening a success, after which supper was served in the dining room.
