PUBLIC NOTICES. INDUSTRIAL EFFICIENCGY ACT, 1926, MANUFACTURE FOR SALE OF FOOTWEAR. APPLICATIONS FOR LICENSES. Notice is hereby given that, pursuant to the provisions of the Industry Licensing (Footwear Manufacture) Notice, 1939, all persons who are engaged in the above industry are required to obtain LICENSES from the Bureau of Industry to continue carrying on the industry on and after the Ist DECEMBER, 1939. The above notice further requires that such Applications must be lodged with the Bureau of Industry on or before the Ist OCTOBER, 1939. Application forms may be obtained from the Offices of the Department of Industries and Commerce at Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin. The industry of “ the manufacture for sale of footwear ” is defined in the above notice as follows: — “ Manufacture ” means and includes—(a) Any or all of the processes relating to footwear, known respectively as clicking, machining, making, finishing, and cleaning; and (b) Every partial process comprised in any of the processes aforesaid; and (c) Any other process which may be substituted for or which may replace or modify any of the processes or partial processes aforesaid; and .; (d) Any partial process comprised in any other process which may be substituted fop or which may replace or modify any of tho processes or partial processes aforesaid; But “ manufacture ” does not include — (e) Any such complete or partial process' when used in the. repair of footwear. “ Footwear ” includes footwear of whatsoever kind and of whatsoever materials, but does not include footwear commonly known as “ surgical.” “ Sale ” does not include disposition by retail for valuable consideration in fulfilment of orders commonly known as “ bespoke ” orders.
