SLIGHTLY BETTER . SMALL RISES IN AUSTRALIANS BROKEN HILLS SOUGHT AT £3/10/6 HARDENING TENDENCY IN BANK OF NEW ZEALANDS A tendency towards firmer levels was apparent in some transtasman issues this morning, holders showing the way in most sections. Buyers of Australian scrip were again comparatively few, however, but business was better, although Government loans absorbed most of the dealings. , Australian metals were neglected by purchasers, but vendors raised limits. Morgans alone remained inactive at sellers IDs, but Lyells, Zinc iprefs., and Souths displayed evidence of revived strength. , Commonwealth industrials showed signs of slight recovery. Broken Hills had 6d better buyers at £3 10s 6d, while Sydney Woolworths rose Is on an inquiry to £1 2s, vendors asking £1 3s. Cole's and Dunlop Rubbers were quiet. .. Government loans reflected more interest, three transactions _ being recorded, one of which was in the September, 1940-43 , 4 per cents, at £97 7s 6d. Bank of New Zealands hardened to between £1 18s-£l _ 19s, but other early sections showed little change. Industrials were mostly stable, while in breweries New Zealands remained weak at £1 10s-£l 11s 6d. SALES REPORTED. —Late Yesterday.— 4 per cent.
