SEAMAN FOUND DROWNED. Adjourned from June to enable fue. ther inquiries to be made, the inquest was concluded to-day into the death of John Gordon, of Scotland, engine, room, storekeeper on the s.s. Tekoa, , whose body was found in the harbour on June 25. Mr A. N. Haggitt represented the New Zealand Shipping Company, agents for the vessel. Evidence was given that after visit* ing an hotel the deceased went aboard the Port Waikato on June 24, Jame* Edward Jackson, an able seaman on that vessel, gave evidence that Gordon left to return to the Tekoa about • p.m. quite ;sober. The Coroner (Mr J. ' It. Bartholinmew, S.M.) said that the deceased_• movements after he Ifet the Port Waikato were a blank. The verdict waa that Gordon died on or about June 24, and was found drowned on June 25. DEATH IN RAILWAY CARRIAGE. The inquest was completed to-dajf into the death of Mary Todd, a middleaged woman, who died in a railway carriage on the journey between llavcnsbourne and Dunedin on September 12. The coroner (Mr J. R. Bar* tholomew, S.M.) returned a verdict i* accordance with the evidence of.Dr; E. F. D’Ath (who carried out a post! mortem examination) that, the deceased’s death was due to sudden'heart failure caused by an extensive disease of the coronary arteries. FALL THROUGH ROOF. As a result of falling through f rqof on which he was working, Richayd Lamb, who lives at 56 Cargill street, suffered injuries to the head and a fractured right arm. He was admitted to the Hospital at 10 a.m.
