OTAGO TENNIS CLUB

SEASON OPENED This dub, the oldest m Dunedin, had a most encouraging and successful opening for the season on Saturday under perfect weather conditions. About GO members were present, as well as numerous friends and guests, and it was quite evident that the dub has taken on a new lease of life with the admission of many young and enthusiastic new members. Mr H. S. Adams (president), in declaring the courts open for the season, referred to the retrenchment that had been necessary and the need for all members to help in the upkeep and attention necessary for the courts and surroundings during the season. He complimented the committee on the good order in which it had produced the courts for opening day, and also mentioned that this was the club’s fifty-third or fifty-fourth season. Sir James Allen (patron) also spoke briefly, and referred to the necessity of keeping a club such as Otago going, especially in war time, and gave his best wishes for a successful season.
