PERSONAL
Mr P. Neilson, M.P., Hon. M. Connelly, M.L.C., and Hon. F. Waite, M.L.C., left for Wellington to-day. Messrs W. D. Finlaysou and J. V. Kean, who have joined the New- Zealand Air Force, were farewelled on the railway station this morning on their departure for the north. Mr P. M'Skimmjng travelled to Christchurch to-day. Mr R. O. Johnson, formerly of Dunedin and more recently of Auckland, has been appointed physical director of the Y.M.C.A. at Hamilton.
Mr H. A. Young, S.M., chairman of the Post and Telegraph Appeal Board, who has been attending sittings of the board in North Island centres, has returned to Christchurch and has resumed magisterial duties. Guests kt the City Hotel are Mr Oliver Johns, Mr J. H. Buchanan, Mf N. C. Reynolds (Auckland), Mr R. K. Gunliffe. Mr and Mrs Charles Turner, Mr H. Sraallbone (Wellington), Mr T. Barker, Mr D. Heggarty (Christchurch), Miss P. Talbot > (Temuka). Visitors staying at Wain’s Hotel include Mr W. J. Williamson (Aiickland), Mr F. S. Dyer (Christchurch), Mrs A. G.' Paterson (Tiinaru). Quests at the Carlton Hotel are Mr E. Price-Jones, Mr W. P. Levy (Auckland), Mr R. P. Jones, Mr F. Parnell, Mr N. M'Causland (Christchurch), Mr E. W. George (Clyde), Mr-E. Learning (Kelso).
