fl'noa Our Correspondent.] SCHOOLS’ SPORTS ASSOCIATION. Tho annual meeting of the South Tuapeka State Schools’ Sports Subassociation was hold on Friday evening, there being present Messrs F. J- Gray (president), E. M. Stevens, E. O Bnen, and G. Bartlett. The election of oftcers resulted: —President, Mr I'. J. Gray; vice-president, Air Cummings; secretary and treasurer, Mr K. M. Stevens; superintendent ot sports, Air Stevens. . , It was decided to interview Beaumont and Waitaliuna School authorities to inquire as to what measure ot suppoit would be available. The same programnio ns last year was adopted. Jlie Phinket Society (kaivreni'L* branch) is to be asked to provide afternoon tea, and the Lawrence Harmonica Band is to provide a musical programme. Ihe affiliation fee ms fixed at tho same as last year. It was decided to send a letter of appreciation for past services to Air G. H. Bowie. WAITAHUNA PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. The annual meeting of the above church was well attended. The Rev. A J. Wardlaw presided. Tho reports of the various congregational organisations were given: Session by Air H. B. Crozier* Deacon’s Court by Mr J« Blaikie, P.W.ADU. by Airs J. Labes, Bible class by Mr C. APCorkindale, Sunday school by Mr R. M'Caw, The treasurer’s report showed a small credit balance on the year’s working. The chairman introduced a commission from the Clutha Presbytery and handed over the chair to Rev. Air Calder, convener of the commission. After discussion it w-as unanimously decided against amalgamation with any other charge. It was also decided that the Deacon’s Court he asked to revise and extend the envelope system in connection with congregational contributions to church funds. During the evening items were rendered by the Rev. O. T. Baragwarath (BalcTutha). the Rev. A. J. Wardlaw, and Aliss H. and Air K. M‘Caw. WAITAHUNA WOMEN’S INSTITUTE. The monthly meeting of the Waitahnna Women's Institute was well attended, tho president (Airs Walker) being in the'chair. The roll call, “ Give the name of a native tree and say where you would like to plant it to beautify our surroundings,” was well responded to. An interesting demonstration on “ Cloisamel ” jewellery was given by Airs Labes, who also demonstrated a quick and effective method of transferring embroidery designs. The monthly competition (six pieces of plain toffee) resulted :—Senior —Airs R. M'C’aw 1, Airs Labes 2; junior—Aliss H. APCaw 1, Aliss M. Cameron 2. Best bloom—Aliss Webster I, Airs Labes 2. Hostesses were Airs Cutler and Airs and Aliss Cunningham.
