Sir Percy Sargood returned on Saturday from the north. Mr C. Stanley Smith and Mr S. D. Smith left yesterday, for Wellington to attend a conference of the Newspaper Proprietors’ Association and the United Press Association. Mr W. Easton, left by the express this morning to attend the conference. Dr D. G. M’Millan, M.R., was a passenger by to-day’s express for Wellington. Mr P. .J. Twomey, of Christchurch, honorary secretary of the Makogai Lepers (N.Z.) Trust Board, will arrive here on Saturday next. He will broadcast on behalf of the lepers and return home on Sunday night. New arrivals at the City Hotel include Mr G. L. Gordon, Mr K. Gj Foster (Auckland), Captain H. W. L.Saunders, Mr H. J. Neiper (Wellington), Mr and Mrs S. Jackson (Christchurch), Mrs J. C. Frater (Oamaru), Mr and Mrs Falconer (Gore), Mr AStevens, Miss I. James (Invercargill). Latest guests to register at Wain’s Hotel are Mr E. R. Simmonds, Mr RW. Peterson (Auckland), Mr J. D< M‘Leod, Mr A. Wyness, Mr T. H* Roberts (Wellington), Mr I. Woolf, Mrs A. Paterson (Christchurch), Miss L. Kassey, Mr W. M. Wilson (Invercargill).
