PIGEON FLIGHT

The Dunedin Homing Pigeon Club flew its second race from Ashburton on Saturday. The stationmaster liberated 145 birds from 17 lofts at 10.30 a.m. in fine weather, there being an easterly wind. The winning bird completed the flight of 154 miles in 3h 22min, at an average velociy of 1,346yds per minute. Results: D. Cunningham’s Major 1, J. Taylor’s Gillie 2, H. Millard's Blue Note 3, A. Esquilant's Andre 4, J. Scnnllar’s Joy Mai 5. The chib will fly its first Christchurch race next Saturday on an airline distance of 200 miles.
