AUTOMATIC LIGHTING FOR CORNERS
A FRENCH DEVELOPMENT An interesting and original lighting development in France is the mounting of auxiliary lights under the normal headlights which come into action only when the car is taking a bend on the road. These lights are placed as low down as possible with their faces inclined slightly forward. The lamps are set “ outwards ” about 25deg. These auxiliary lights are controlled by an automatic switch on the steering gear, and quite a small lock on either side causes them to light up. They switch off again as soon as the car returns to a straight course. A cutout switch is provided so that the device can.be put out of action as desired; as, for instance, when driving in towns.
