MORNINGTON CRICKET CLUB

the ahnual meeting The above club held its annual general meeting on Wednesday, the president, Mr A. E Jelley, presiding, over a fair attendance. He spoke bicdilv of the performances of the various teams, particularly that of the third grade team. Regarding finance, he stressed the fact that, although the club’s balance showed an increase, the position was not altogether satisfactory. The material account had been light, and he urged members to support the club’s activities in every possible way. Mr Jelley spoke in appreciative terms of the services of Messrs G. E. Laing and C. J. Robertson, retiring treasurer and secretary respectively, and later a resolution expressing the club’s thanks to them was unanimously curried. Mr H. Brown, in .seconding, the motion, endorsed the chairman’s

remarks. The report was adopted. Fiv* new members were proposed. Opening day was fixed for October 7, 1939. The election of officers resulted aa follows:—Patron, Mr E. E. Nicholson; president, Mr A. E. Jelley; secretary, Mr R. A. McDermott; treasurer, Mr F. Morris,, sen.; auditor, Mr T. Southall ; delegate Otago Cricket Association, Mr F. Morris, sen.; delegate to Otago Junior Cricket Council, Mr J. Torrance ; club captain, Mr C. Chirnside; deputy club captain, Mr J_. Torrance; committee—Messrs H. Grimmett, D, Waller, G. Sutherland, P. Dennison, H,Brown.
