In view of the decision of the Government that prices for meat may not be increased, butchers will feel easier in mind following the drop in prices for fat stock at Burnside yesterday. The lowering of prices lias resulted. it is said, not so much from any definite intention not to force the bidding, but from an increased yarding. The president of the Dunedin Master Butchers’ Association (Mr 11. S, Vercoe) has been in Wellington this week, where negotiations between the Master Butchers’ Associations and the Government have been held. The outcome of those negotiations will be more fully available when Mr Vercoe returns, but in the meantime the order is; “No increase in prices.
