A MOZART MASTERPIECE One of the loveliest works in choral literature is to be presented once again in Dunedin at the Choral Society’s concert, to be held in the Town Hall Concert Chamber on Tuesday night. The piece is Mozart’s ‘ Requiem Mass,’ composed in the last year of his life, and is full of that serenity and loveliness that characterises all of his work. There is nothing pretentious or “ difficult ” about tins work—it moves one with its glorious melody and deep drama. The four soloists in tlio presentation will be Misses Doris Wilson (soprano), Tyrie (contralto), and Messrs Cecil Wallis (tenor) and Russell Laurenson (baritone). Mr Alfred Walrasley is in charge of the choir and l orchestra. The supporting programme contains two works by wellknown Dunedin musicians, both inscribed to the Choral Society. They are Miss 'Mary Martin’s ‘ Lacking Samite and Sable ’ and Professor V. E. Galway’s delightful work. ‘The Shepherdess.’ In addition the choir will sing folk songs and three operatic choruses by Handel which have been arranged by Sir Henrv J. Wood. Mr Russell Laurenson. the baritone soloist, is to sing the famous aria ‘ Eri tu.’ by Verdi, and there will be an interesting presentation by _ the Castalian Singers, a women’s trio.
