MOSGIEL DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL
lii view of the new system of teaching which has been introduced info the Mosgiei District High School and the fact that some parents may not be in a position to ascertain the outstanding points of that system, the School Committee invited 'parents to a meeting for the purpose of hearing the advantages of the new system. The Rev. E, p. Y. Simpson (chairman of the School Committee) presided. The rector (Mr AV. T. O. Kaye), who gave the principal address on the changes in educational methods during the past half-century or more, apologised for the absence of Mr Goulding, of the secondary department, who had been called away on military business. Miss Henderson gave some interesting and valuable information about the methods employed in instruction in the infant department, and also detailed her experiences while associated with some schools in England. Mr Kaye gave a detailed insight into the new system and outlined the advantages of it, as compared with that followed in recent years. Apart from the informative nature of Ins address it proved very interesting. After thanks had been expressed to Mr Kayo and Miss Henderson, a discussion took place on the formation of a parents’ association. AVith such a body it was hoped to maintain the traditions of the school and render useful service in view of the new school to bo opened early next year. The proposal found favour with those present, but the formation of the association was left over till a future meeting.
