[Fkosi Oca Oamaru Correspondent.] WAITAKI OLD BOYS. At the annual meeting of tfie Waitaki High School Old Boys’ Association loyal resolutions were passed, one assuring old boys in London that they could rely on Waitakians in New Zealand living up to their record in 1914-18 and the otner assuring the Prime Minister of Waitakians* loyal support of their country.. The following officers were elected: — Patron, Mr F. Milner; president, Mr R. H. Hill; vice-presidents, Messrs J. Corlett, R. Giorgi, and C. Gillies; Hall of Memories Committee —Messrs F. Milner, R. H. Hill, A, W. Moss, A. J. Grave, H. T. Hall, C. J. L. Mollison, F. Jones, L. Roberts, H. B. M'Dowell, A. C. Piper, W. M. Uttley, and Dr L. Douglas; hon auditor, Mr C. G. Meikle. The matter of the form of the M. K. M'Culloch memorial was held over, pending the result of the appeal for funds. It was decided to increase the capitation to 2s 6d a member, and make a levy on branches to meet the association’s deficit. Founders’ Day was fixed for October 7. PRESBYTERY. The Oamaru Presbytery met yesterday, the Rev. H. 0. Bowman (moderator) presiding. The following were appointed to attend the General Assembly:—The Revs. Dr T. Paterson, J. T. V. Steele, A. K. Chisholm, J. Fordyce, and J. Anderson, and elders from the Columba, Herbert, Maheno, Kurow, Weston, and Waiareka churches. The Rev.' Dr Paterson was elected moderator of Presbytery for the ensuing year. ROTARY CLUB. Rotarian W. Kinder at the weekly meeting of the Oamarn Rotary Club, gave ,an interesting address on the work of the North Otago Crippled Children’s Society. TOWNSWOMEN’S GUILD. Mrs L. R. Jordan presided at a wellattended meeting of the Oamaru Townswomen’s Guild. Addresses were given by the mayor (Mr K. Familton) and Dr Elspeth Fitzgerald on plans for evacuation and health of children in time of emergency. Members who passed the St. John Ambulance Association’s first aid examinations were congratulated, and Mr G. T. Gillies was thanked for his work with the motor class. Mrs F, Woodgate’s offer to start a sewing guild was accepted with_. thanks. It was decided to assure Mrs Pow (Dominion president) of the branch’s loyalty and co-operation, asking her to convey the assurance to the parent body in England. COLUMBA TENNIS CLUB. At the annual meeting of the Columha Tennis Club, the following officers were elected :—President, Mr B. B. Walton; vice-presidents—the Rev. W. L. Marsh. Messrs R. Brown, E. Reid, -sen.. M, S. The following resolution was passed by the Oamaru Presbytery yesterday “At this juncture, when the British Empire is at war with Germany, for the rule of law. as against ruthless force, and the New Zealand Government has unhesitatingly, ranged itself along with the United Kingdom, we recommend our people to respond with a due sense of civic responsibility to su h calls for service as the authorities may make.” ATHEN/EUM COMMITTEE. The report of the librarian (Miss H. M. Ironside) at the monthly meeting of the Oamaru xttheiueum Committee stated that, in August. 6.842 books were issued, comprising 3.906 notion. 1 911 magazines, 390 juvenile, and 236 biography.
