Mr A. S. Falconer left to-day fop Wellington Mr James Hogg went north this morning, bound for Wellington. Mr A. P.'Greenfield left this morning for Auckland. Mr P. B. Adams returned yesterday from Wellington. Mr W. L. Wood arrived yesterday after an extended tour of Great Britain and the Continent.

Sir James Elliott, Wellington, and Lady Elliott are expected to return to New Zealand from Britain early next month. On July 25, Sir James had conferred on him by the Aberdeen University the honorary degree of LL.D. This degree was conferred on four distinguished men who were attending the British Medical Association conference in Aberdeen.

A Press Association from London says the engagement is announced of the tennis player, Mr C, E, Malfroy (New Zealand) to Sybil,daughter of Mr and Mrs C. W. Gordon Bordersraead, Loughton, Essex. The Rev. John Gibson Inkster, 8.A., D.D., minister of Knox Church,Toronto, since 1921, is expected to arrive in New Zealand this month. Knox Church is the oldest Presbyterian Church in Toronto. Its present membership is 1,838. In addition to being minister of Knox Church, Dr Inkster is a'- prominent figure in the affairs of the Presbyterian Church of Canada. New arrivals at Wain’s Hotel am Mr E. Wilkinson (Auckland), Mr R„ Kirkup, Mr M. Jackson (Palmerston: North), Mr D.' W. Kersley (Wellington), Mr L. G. Donaldson (Christchurch). "
