ALL BLACK TRIALS OTAGO SUGGESTS ABANDONMENT The abandonment of the All Black Rugby trials, which are set down to be played in the course of the next fortnight at Wellington, has been suggested by the Management Committee of the Otago Rugby Football Union. At Monday night’s meeting the question of tho trial matches was discussed, and it was decided, in view of the present situation, to wire the New Zealand Union suggesting that, as there was very, little likelihood of the tour or South Africa eventuating, the trials should be abandoned. It was stated that employers were "iving everv facility for employees who wished to enlist in the Territorials or other branches of the service to do so, and it would! therefore be unfair to ask them to release men to engage in Rugby It is understood that the New Zealand Rugbv Union discussed the question of continuing with the trial matches at a meeting held last week, a decision being reached that-, sine© it was the expressed wish of the Government that sports fixtures should be carried out, the trials be gone on with.
