PIGEON FLIGHT
The Dunedin Homing Pigeon Club Hew its first race of the 1939 old-bird season on Saturday _ from Ashburton. The station master liberated 110 birds from 15 lofts at 10.30 a.m. in fine weather, and the birds put up fast flights. The winner flew the distance of 154 miles in 2 hours 49 minutes, at an average velocity of 1,604 yards per minute. Results; — C. M'Farlane’s Truant 1 M. Anderson’s Bonnie 2 T. Secular’s Sea View 3 T. Ramsay’s Doon Pride 4 T. Taylor's Belmont Junior ... 5 The club will hold a race from Ashburton again next Saturday.
