METALS STRENGTHEN MORGANS SELL FOR HZBROKEN HILL SOUTHS SOUGHT AT £l/10/AUSTRALIAN INDUSTRIALS LIFELESSOTHER SCRIP CAUTIOUS Australian metal shares again rose sharply on the Dunedin investment market, which resumed business this morning, after being closed since Friday. ' Buying support expanded substantially, and advances were marked in practically every issue. Commonwealth industrials remained hesitant, while other sections reflected caution. Business was fair. Mount Lyells stood out among metals with a 2s 6d rise by buyers to £1 12s 6d, final sellers maintaining limits at £1 14s 6d. Broken Hill Souths shot up to an inquiry at £1 10s, while Morgans recovered spectacularly to business at 11s, around which valuation the market closed. Zincs and Norths were stronger. Transtasman industrial lines were quoted at defined limits. Broken Hill Proprietaries closed wide between £3 10s-£3 12s, but they were the only shares to attract a purchaser. Coles eased to an offer at £3 11s, with A.C.Is and Sydney Woolworths finishing weak. Bank of New Zealands remained inactive with easy vendors willing to quit at £1 18s 9d and no buyers forward. Insurances were uncertain, but New Zealand Refrigeratings cont. recovered to a transaction in the room at Bs. Mosgiel and other select woollens retained strength.
