ROAD RACES TO BE HELD [Per United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, September 10. Although certain races scheduled for the local cycling season may be postponed because of the war, three of the main South Island races will definitely be held. These will be the Tiraaru to Christchurch race on September 23. the 36 miles South Island championship at Southbridge on September 30, and the Waimate to Christchurch race on October 7. GREEN ISLAND CLUB The above club’s race was from Mosgiel to Outram Bridge and return, the distance being covered twice. R. Price and D. Brown, the two limit riders, were the first to turn at Outram the first time round, being followed by E. Brown and J. Mitchell; next came W. Haig, followed by S. Macartney. C. Ralston, J. Kennedy. J. Macartney, O. Gardiner, and W. J. Whiston. with the scratch men. R. WilsonPyne, A. Woodford, and J. Woodford, who had gained two minutes on the handicap. The order was unchanced at Mosgiel the first time round. On reaching Outram R. Price, who had left his co-marker, was first to turn: then came D. Brown. E. Brown, and W. Haig. Price went on to win with two minutes'to spare from

D. Brown, W. Haig just getting up to beat E. Brown. Fastest time went to R. Wilson-Pyne, who sprinted the Woodford brothers. Results:—R. Price 1. B. Brown 2, W. Haig 3. Fastest time: R. Wilson-Pyne, 62min 56sec; A. Woodford, 62min 56 l-ssec: J. Woodford, 62rain 56 2-ssec.
