DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE INCREASED ACTIVITY MAINTAINED The increased activity apparent on the local share market during the last few days \vas maintained this morning, when a large volume of sales was reported. Values generally revealed a tendency to harden. Banking issues continued to have a dull market, and sellers’ limits were a shade easier in all cases with the exception ol New South Wales. , National Insurances were a little firmer at 18s lOd, with a subsequent seller at 18s Jld and no buyer. , In the meat section sellers of Refrigerating (paids) eased Id, while the. contnbutings moved up Id to buyers at 9s 4d, with sellers asking 3d more at 9s 9(1. Values were generally firmer in the miscellaneous group, Australian industrials having a particularly strong inquiry. Woolworths (N.Z.) hardened to buyers at £5 7s for the ordinaries without attracting a seller. It is rumoured that this company is considering increasing its capital by a fresh issue of shares.

Australian mining shares experienced an improved demand, practically all issues showing an advance on yesterday’s prices. Government loans continued to receive' strong support, increased offers for the taxfree issues failing to attract a seller. Amongst unlisted stocks Woolworth (Sydneys) continued to harden, buyers offering Is more than yesterday’s sale price of £5 10s without response. Shillings Ltd. maintained their recent improvement with business up to 18s 3d and further buyers at 18s and no seller under 18s 6d.
