(Received October 9, at I p.m.) Women jockeys triumphed in the 270tb four-mile race, the Newmarket Town Plate, founded by Charles 11. It is the only horse race in the world in which women compete on equal terms with men. The only male jockey in a field of seven was" unplaced. Jimmy’s Pet, ridden by the 20-year-old Miss Thrale, a daughter of the famous trainer, won in a thrilling finish.
