An Aberdonian was suffering from toothache, but was reluctant to pay for extraction. However, as the pain became almost unbearable, he was obliged to go to the dentist. “ What’s your charge for pulling out a tooth?” he asked. “Three shillings,” replied the dentist. “ That’s a lot of money,” commented the Aberdonian. “ Would you no’ be willin’ to slacken it a wee bit for a shilling, and 1 think 1 could manage the rest of the operation masel?” -
