QUEEN MARY'S SISTER SHIP FORMAL CONTRACT SIGNED (British Official Wireless.) Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright RUGBY, October 6. The formal contract between th<» Cunard-Whito Star Company and the shipbuilders for the construction of the express steamship known as No. 552, the sister ship to the Queen. Mary, wa» signed at Liverpool to-day. The John Brown Company has moved into position in its yard on the Clyde the huge crane used in the construction of the Queen Mary, and is proceeding with the formation of the keel bos for the new liner. It has already placed an order with William Beardmore for the hull castings for Ko. 552. These castings are of exceptional dimensions, and consist of a cast steel stem, a cast steel stern frame, cast steel shaft, brackets, and a cast steel rudder. They will be manufactured at Beardmore’s Parkhead works at Glasgow. _ . , j The contract is estimated to be worth many thousands of pounds, and is one of the largest received by the firm for many years.
