ARABS SEEK ARMISTICE
SITUATION IN PALESTINE HIGHER COMMITTEE TO ISSUE PROCLAMATION Pres* Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, OctoDcr 7. The ‘ Manchester Guardian’s ’ Jerusalem correspondent says: “ It has been reliably reported that the Higher Arab Committee’s armistice proclamation, arising from the Arab King’s mediation, will be issued within 24 hours. The King approved the text yesterday, but Yassin el Hasbimy, Iraq’s Premier, suggested modification, hence the slight delay. It is understood that the proclamation appeals for an armistice only, after which the Arabs will await some indication of Britain’s ‘ good intention ’ for a filial settlement.” THE ROYAL COMMISSION (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, October 6. The-Palestine Royal Commission held its first meeting today. The meeting, which was private, was devoted to a discussion of questions of procedure and other preliminary matters.
