ANOTHER BIG ATTENDANCE There are many well-known figures i local th eatrieals taking part in the arlcty ami vaudeville entertainment .'lnch has been arranged by the I>olan Catholic community of Dunedin .t His Majesty's Theatre. The carnial is being held for the purpose of aising sufficient funds to complete the :quidation of the debt on St. Joseph's 'athedral. Coupled with the enterainment programme there is also a azaar, which includes a wide variety ( attractions. At last night’s cntcrainment there was another large ateudanec, and the work of the various erfonner.s was at all times of a high standard. The ballet was seen in some bright and attractive numbers, and

added to this the lighting and stage effects were particularly effective. Mr Kevin Dun and Miss Abraham were seen in another exhibition dance, and Miss Tui Northey and Mr James Macfarlane appeared in some light song numbers. Miss Joyce Rowley gave another fine display of tap-dancing, and Mr Harold 1 Bain and Mr Alex. M'Do.well were heard in solos. In the selection ‘ Picking Cotton,’ rendered by Mr M'Dowell, the boys’ tap ballet, comprising Messrs L.” Powell, W. Parker, and H. Wootton, provided a bright novelty. Two humorous interludes, 1 It’s Moments Like These ’ and ‘ Justice,’ added further to the variety of the programme. Mr .S. Bigg again mystified bis audience with sleight-of-hand tricks, and Mr Bert Kelson, on

his one-wheel cycle, created a great deal of amusement. „ The various stalls were weir patron-, ised last night, and the chocolate alley* and various games of skill added to the merriment. The carnival will be continued nightlv until October 1/. and on Monday night there wifi be a change of programme in the vaudeville fare. The musical side of the entertainment is in the hands of Miss Roma Baker.
