DUNEDIN CENTRAL BRANCH At the October meeting of the Dunedin Central branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union Mrs Hotting (president) presided. Devotional services were conducted by Mrs Armit, who spoke of the great need of faith and trust in God under all circumstances. A letter was read from the local Centennial Council submitting eight suggestions for an Otago memorial to the pioneer women of the province. After some discussion it was unanimously decided that a women’s building. in which all women's organisations could hold meetings and conferences, etc., would be the most suitable memorial to the pioneer women.

Interesting and informative reports of the recent district conference at Lawrence were given by Mesdames Cherry, Hiett, and Downing.

An invitation was extended to the district executive to hold the next district conference in Dunedin.

A sub-committee was appointed to arrange for an afternoon concert and bring-and-buy sale to be held during the last week in October. It was decided to hold the November monthly meeting in the evening to enable those engaged during the day to attend. A vote of sympathy was passed to Mrs G. M. Angus in the death of her husband.
